This Instagram post by @brainpicker made me think. It is a quote from Mary Oliver on the most regretful people.
In her words, Mary Oliver said that the most regretful of us are those who heard the call to be creative and create something — and spurned it.
It made me wonder and curious: Am I hearing the call to be creative now? Is that voice at the back of my head a call to create something? And if indeed it is, what should I do — should I indeed give in to it?
The thing about creating something is that it involves risk.
At the start of a venture, one does not know whether such travails will see completion and such visions will see fruition. One never knows at the start of the journey if it was all worth it, really.
To be creative — and to create — is to take a risk.
One can answer the call to be creative and to create — or spurn it. The choice exists —
But as one song says, I hope you dance.
