In the most recent Prosumer Report of the Havas Ortega Group, it was found that more than 90% of the Filipino Prosumers have heard of the metaverse.
This level is comparable to the awareness levels that were observed in France (88%), the United Kingdom (91%), the United States (93%), China (98%), and India (92%). The awareness levels in the Philippines are also higher than those observed in Japan (60%), Italy (81%), and Germany (82%).

How did we arrive at this rather high awareness level for this newly emerging technology called the metaverse?
For a long time, Filipino Prosumers have been primed about the concept of the metaverse. 95% of them actually say that science fiction and pop culture have prepared them to embrace technological innovations as they arise. Another 83% have been primed by their experiences with gaming platforms, such as Decentraland, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox.
It also helped that in the news, topics about the metaverse and other web3-related technologies abound.
So it really is no surprise to see that Filipino Prosumers are aware with the concept of the metaverse.
Now, the bigger questions that need to be asked and answered are, “What do they expect of the metaverse? How do they envision the metaverse playing a role in their lives in the future? And how do they expect brands and companies to behave in this new world?”
That is what we’re going to find out next.
